Trellises and Arbors for Sale - Local Store or Online?
When you want to add a personal touch to your home garden, chances are you begin your search by looking for trellises and arbors, but where do you find trellises and arbors for sale? You can find many of these products at your local building supplier like Home Deport or Lowe's. You will find a larger selection of these products at a building center that sells cedar products. My favorite one in my area is Sunbury Cedar. They build their product onsite and you can smell the fresh cedar when you get out of your car. Sunbury has a great selection of products and most of it is setup on site, so you can view it. This is handy if you want to make measurements or just make sure it is the right style for you. If you can't find what you are looking for locally you can search online and shop from home. The one thing you need to think of is the cost of shipping the product to your door, but a lot of places offer free shipping, which is sweet. With hundreds of styles from which to choose, you are certain to find the trellis or arbor that will suit your needs. You will also have an easier time finding products made with other materials like vinyl or iron. When shopping online, you are able to view hundreds of different designs in a short period of time. Even if you don't buy online you will have a good idea of what you like and you can take a picture when you go shopping and if necessary you can have someone build it for you. Perhaps you want a freestanding planter combo. If this is what you are looking for, then there are cedar planter trellis combinations available. These products come partially assembled. The planter provides a base for your climbing plants to start and offers spaced slat bottoms to allow for good drainage. If you are handy and want to stick with natural materials, you may want to consider the classic cedar trellis kit. This kit comes in three 20 X 20 inch sections that allow you to grow your trellis or modify its configuration for your particular needs. You can find these models in cedar, redwood and PVC construction. You can choose between ready-made models and those that require partial construction. Arbors are a product that I would build or have someone build for me. Especially, if you can not find the exact style or size available. I built my first arbor using three trellises. One for each side and then I cut down one for the roof. I used this for an entry into my garden and I trained grape vines on the sides. If you’re looking for an arbor for special events such as weddings, then you might be looking for the classic white arbor. These usually come in wood or vinyl. A lot of people go with vinyl for special events because they are easy to set up and you can probably rent them in your area. Wood is also a good option if you want to paint it a different color than white. You can also find gated arbors that provide the perfect entryway to your garden. You can build a
wood trellis, but I think it is a lot to do all of
the cuts and then nail or screw it together. Unless
you are looking for something special, I would
suggest you purchase pre-built trellises. This is a
lot easier and you can find them in different sizes.
Arbors also come in many designs, including
pergola arbors. This arbor type has a reinforced
roof structure that can support even the most robust
of climbing plants such as grapevines.
