Arbors Give Gardens a Dash of Drama

There's a good reason why garden arbors are one of the most popular garden structures. For very little money, the garden gets an instant shot of drama. Plus, you can build one in a weekend with common tools and limited experience.

Arbors serve as an attractive place to train climbing vines, but they can be a shaded bench, a gate, a swing—we even have a friend who built an arbor with birdhouse at top. There are unlimited possibilities.

Red cedar is the classic material for building an arbor, but it's not the only one. Arbors can be made out of like PVC vinyl, bent wood, copper, iron, and steel.
